Apple's Watch Series 11 Review: Excellent Gesture Control with Extended Battery Performance

Our newest Apple Watch Series 11 delivers the feature the majority really need in a wearable device: improved power endurance.

Apart from that, the updated device acts as an immediate successor to the Series 10, maintaining similarity in styling, size measurements and functions, with many of improvements derived from software.

The latest version is also £30 cheaper in the UK, costing from £369 sterling (€449/$399/A$679), placed higher than the recently updated SE model costing £219 in the budget category alongside the £749 Ultra 3 at the high end.

Build and Interface

Like last year's Series 10, the new model measures only 9.7 millimeters in thickness, creating a slim fit to the wrist, simple to slide under cuffs and more comfortable during sleep.

The 2,000nit display is plenty bright for seeing inside and outside, remaining clear at various perspectives, which makes quickly looking for timekeeping or notifications easy.

Protecting the display by glass which is significantly more durable than earlier versions, while not reaching the hardness compared to sapphire, which is reserved on the pricier titanium versions.

Capability and Runtime

This latest device incorporates equivalent S10 silicon as last year's model while adding support for cellular 5G capability and improved connectivity when you're exploring remote areas.

The batteries have increased in size by 9% and 11% for the 42mm and 46mm watches respectively.

Bigger version managed an impressive two days during evaluation with sleep tracking but without exercise.

Typical wearers should approximately record two days and two nights before needing a charge, which takes just over an hour using a 20W or higher charger (sold separately), reaching approximately 70 percent in half an hour.

When you engage in exercise, the device can continue about eight hours of tracking, adequate time for a marathon or two.

Operating System Updates

The latest device comes preloaded with updated software, which runs on all models since the sixth generation and subsequent.

This includes recently introduced Liquid Glass interface, creating interface components semi-translucent, and adds fresh interface options: an expansive digital display titled Flow reacting to motion and an analogue face named Exactograph, which breaks out time components as separate indicators.

The best new feature centers on gesture control, where you rapidly twist your hand backward then returning to dismiss things and return to the main interface.

It works even without lifting your arm to view the screen, allowing users to dismiss alarms with a satisfying flick with your hand.

Wellness Monitoring

The wearable device includes a complete fitness analysis system of features from previous models while introducing a couple of new features and a redesigned exercise application.

Blood pressure notifications look for signs of high blood pressure over a 30-day period, alerting users to seek medical advice when pulse information indicates potential underlying conditions.

The new sleep score metric makes Apple's sleep tracking more straightforward to analyze, similar to competitors including various manufacturers.

Every day the device displays a percentage score separated into components across three areas: sleep length, timing and disturbances, which are all straightforward and viewable through the wellness application through your mobile also.

Exercise companion functions as intelligent training employing your historical exercise information to provide motivational messages before and after workouts, such as recognising previous running sessions three times this week plus intensity measurement you put it.

It also provides spoken alerts upon achieving particular goals during exercise, such as a particular pace, heart rate, distance, duration or further statistics.

Users can select of three voices, delivering verbal guidance through connected audio paired with the device for multiple workout categories, such as walking, jogging or biking.

But, this feature depends on if you have with you your iPhone 15 Pro or later with you, proving inconvenient enough that I would forgo the feature preventing inconvenience with a phone on runs.

Sustainability and Environment

Reports indicate energy storage maintains exceeding 1000 full power cycles with at least 80% of initial performance with replacement available for £95.

Fixings require between £295 and £389 depending on the model.

The device incorporates more than 40% sustainable elements including aluminium, cobalt, copper, glass components, gold, lithium components, rare earth elements, steel parts, tin elements, {titanium|
