NFL Recap: Broncos Mount Late Comeback Against Eagles, Ravens Endure Historic Home Defeat
Denver Broncos 21–17 Philadelphia Eagles
Denver's quarterback found a short touchdown pass and the running back contributed another ground touchdown in the fourth quarter as the Broncos erased a two-touchdown disadvantage to hand the Philadelphia Eagles their initial defeat of the campaign. Denver's defense batted down Jalen Hurts' last-gasp attempt on the game's concluding play to send the reigning title holders to just their second loss in their previous 22 outings. The Broncos (three wins and two losses) got fortunate in their rally when the Eagles had a crucial play nullified on an illegal shift penalty whistled against star ball carrier Barkley.
Houston Texans 44–10 Baltimore Ravens
CJ Stroud passed for 244 yards and four scoring throws, and the Texans (2-3) strolled to a 44-10 win over an injury-ravaged Ravens squad, matching both the biggest away victory in Texans' history and the worst home defeat in Ravens' history. Baltimore (1-4) were without star signal-caller Jackson, and that was far from their only problem. Key defenders multiple defensive leaders all missed the game, and the Baltimore already were depleted on defense because of a neck problem that concluded Nnamdi Madubuike's season. Baltimore were also without All-Pro fullback Patrick Ricard and offensive lineman Stanley.
Las Vegas Raiders 6–40 Indianapolis Colts
Jonathan Taylor scored three touchdowns and a two-point conversion, and the quarterback passed for two scoring throws as the Colts overwhelmed the Raiders. This decisive advantage was Indianapolis' biggest since 2013. The quarterback completed 20 of 29 for 212 passing yards and improved to four wins and one loss as the starting quarterback this year, exceeding his total wins over the previous two years with the Giants. Taylor rushed 17 times for 66 yards and grabbed three passes for 20 receiving yards. The Colts turned a blocked punt, two interceptions and a turnover on downs into touchdowns. Las Vegas dropped to 4-1.
Cowboys Soar Past Jets in High-Scoring Game
Dak Prescott threw four touchdown passes, guiding the Dallas Cowboys to a comfortable win over the Jets. Dallas scored on two 90-yard drives in the second quarter, even with being without four starters on the blocking unit. The running back gained 135 yards and a touchdown and also caught a receiving touchdown. The Cowboys, now two wins, two losses, and a tie, rebounded from a high-scoring draw against the Packers last Sunday. The Jets are still without a victory at zero wins and five losses in their new coach's first season as head coach.
Minnesota Vikings 21–17 Cleveland Browns
Vikings receiver Addison caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from the quarterback with 25 seconds remaining to secure Minnesota victory over the Browns at the UK venue. The 10-play, 80-yard drive gave the Vikings (3-2) a crucial victory on their overseas journey, which began with a 24-21 loss to the Pittsburgh in Dublin last Sunday. It also spoiled Dillon Gabriel's first NFL start, as the Browns rookie positioned his squad (one win and four losses) in contention by throwing two touchdown passes. Another first-year player Judkins rushed for 110 yards on 23 attempts. Wentz shook off a shoulder injury that temporarily forced him out and directed two scoring drives in the latter half.
Panthers Stage Epic Comeback Against Dolphins
Carolina's quarterback threw for two scores and the running back ran for 206 rushing yards and a touchdown as the Panthers came back against the Dolphins in their home stadium. The quarterback's short pass to the first-year receiver with 1:59 to go gave the Carolina (two wins and three losses) the lead for good as they matched the biggest rally to secure victory in team history by erasing a 17-point hole. Young had a poor start, but he finished 19 completions on 30 attempts for 198 yards with one pick. Dowdle, filling in for the sidelined starter, did his damage on the ground on 23 carries, coming up four yards shy of the team's all-time rushing mark. The Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa threw 27 of 36 for 256 passing yards with three scores and receiver Waddle gained 110 yards through the air on six receptions and scored a touchdown, but the Miami (one win and four losses) fell to zero wins and three losses in away contests.
Saints Secure First Win Under New Coach
New Orleans' quarterback passed for an 87-yard touchdown to receiver Shaheed, safety Jordan Howden scooped up a loose ball 86 yards for a score, and the Saints defeated the turnover-prone New York Giants for the New Orleans' first victory under first-year head coach Moore. Rattler secured his first victory in 11 career starts, passing for 225 passing yards without a turnover. Giants rookie QB Dart, who won his debut last week, passed for 202 yards and two scores, but also committed errors on three occasions. New York turned the ball over on five separate plays in all, none more costly than when Bryan Bresee stripped running back Cam Skattebo, resulting in the safety's TD. Both teams are one win and four losses.
